GeoCapitol conducted a geotechnical engineering investigation for a new school building and parking lot at the existing Draper Elementary School grounds. A previous geotechnical study was completed by another firm, which was reviewed and evaluated. There was concern no global stability analysis was completed to confirm the assumptions of the report. The deeper soil borings completed by others were utilized to analysis the slope for global/slope stability to verify if additional slope improvements were required. GeoCapitol personnel performed seven auger probes for infiltration testing at depths of 8 feet and conducted soil laboratory testing on selected samples including grain size and hydrometer analysis using spoils from the auger probes. The findings of GeoCapitol’s analysis were summarized in a findings letter to the client with regard to foundations, floor slabs, and global stability concerns.
